Montreal is the second largest city in Canada. It is located in the southwest of the province of Quebec, on the shores of St. Lawrence river. The city is named after Mount Royal, a large hill located in the heart of the city. Montreal is known for unique combination of modern and historical architecture, and cultural diversity. Most popular sight is the Old Montreal, a historic area with the Old Port, Place Jacques-Cartier, City Hall, the Marché Bonsecours, Place d'Armes, Pointe-à-Callière Museum, and the Notre-Dame de Montréal Basilica. Montreal's Underground city is the largest underground complex in the world (with over 32 km of connected tunnels which include shopping malls, banks, hotels, museums, restaurants, theatres and even a university). "City of Festivals" Montreal is a host of International Jazz Festival, Film Festival, Fireworks Festival and breathtaking performances of Cirque du Soleil's.
