Detroit is the heart of the automotive industry, hence the well known nicknames - Motor City and Motown. The largest city in the US state of Michigan, Detroit is also a major port, connected to the Atlantic ocean through the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence river. The international headquarters for the America's Big Three domestic auto makers - GM, Ford and DaimlerChrysler are located in Detroit. Detroit is a home of the annual Detroit Auto Show - the most prominent auto show in America.
